Lake Country Pets is one person, one home and a small number of dogs at a time. Ellen Raven cares for dogs full-time from her house in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, and this page is the honest version of who she is and what a stay with her looks like.
Who Ellen is
Ellen has cared for dogs her whole life and now does it as her full-time work. She lives in Oro-Medonte with her husband Ralph, who the guest dogs quickly learn is the chief cuddler, and two small, friendly resident dogs who act as the welcoming committee. The house has a big country yard where guests get supervised sniffing and play, and a warm couch for the evenings. It is a home, not a facility, and that is the whole idea.
What she offers
Overnight in-home dog boarding and doggy daycare at her place, and for owners within about 20 km of Oro-Medonte, drop-in visits and house sitting at yours. Owners trust her with the tricky bits: she gives prescribed medications on your vet's schedule, supports dogs recovering from surgery with calm, restricted routines, and looks after anxious, senior and young dogs with the patience they need. How she works
Every new client starts with a free, no-obligation Meet & Greet at the house, so your dog knows the place and you have seen it with your own eyes. Ellen keeps guest numbers small so nobody competes for attention, feeds each dog to their own routine with the food you bring, and sends photos through every stay. She carries pet-care liability insurance, asks for up-to-date vaccinations, and keeps a simple 48-hour cancellation policy that is written down in the terms of service. If she thinks a dog will not be happy at her place, she says so.
Where she is
Oro-Medonte sits between Barrie and Orillia on Highway 11, about 13 km from Orillia and 18 km from Barrie, which makes drop-offs easy from either. Families also drive up from Innisfil and across from Wasaga Beach for boarding and daycare. There is a page for each town:
