Privacy policy

Lake Country Pets is a small, local dog-care business run by Ellen Raven in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. We keep this simple: we only collect what we need to care for your dog and arrange your booking, and we never sell your information. This policy follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The booking rules themselves live in the terms of service.
What we collect
When you check availability, request a booking or book a Meet & Greet, we collect your name, email address and phone number, and for drop-in visits or house sitting, your home address. We also collect details about your dog: name, breed, age, size, vaccination status, medications, health notes and anything about their behaviour that helps Ellen care for them safely. If you create an account to manage your bookings, we store the sign-in identity you choose (Google, Microsoft, Facebook or an email link).
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, arrange and confirm bookings, send booking and payment updates by email or text, share photo updates during a stay, and care for your dog safely, including giving medication to the schedule you provide. If you leave a review, we may publish it with your first name and town. We do not use your details for anything unrelated to your dog's care, and we do not send marketing you have not asked for.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run the site and take payment: our website host, database, email and text-message providers, sign-in provider, and payment processor when you pay by card. They see only what they need to do their job. Your vet may be contacted in an emergency. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Analytics and cookies
We use cookieless analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, which does not identify you. Signing in sets the session cookie needed to keep you signed in. When we run online ads, the ad platform's conversion tag may record that a booking request was made; it never receives details about your dog.
How long we keep it
Booking records and your dog's care notes are kept while you are a client, so repeat bookings are quick and Ellen has the history she needs. Enquiries that never become a booking are cleared out periodically. Payment records are kept for as long as Canadian tax rules require.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time. Email hello@lakecountrypets.ca or use the contact page and we'll sort it out. If you have a complaint we cannot resolve, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
